The problem is that the "public market" (stock market) isn't awarding companies for exploration success, so I can sort of understand where Reifel might be coming from. The big question I have is why aren't there any "private market" transactions (project sales) that ought to clear at much higher prices than that of the public market? Are the prices between what's offered and what's being asked that far apart? I asked that of Mark Bailey of MFL and he said "not really". The other theory is that the major companies aren't planning on staying around? Or perhaps they figure there is no rush, as there will always be time to do deals? In reality there aren't any ideal projects available for majors. There are some good "mid-tier" projects, but of course there aren't really very many mid tier companies left.
