The Intel® Server Board SCB2, Intel® Server Chassis SR1200, and Intel® Server Chassis SR2200 are optimized for high density, rack-mount server environments. Server Board SCB2-based platforms can be integrated into OEM server product offerings to meet a variety of Internet applications, including clustered database, firewall, streaming media, and e-mail servers (see attached glossary for technical descriptions and usage detail). This new product line is built around the Intel® Pentium® III processor with 512-KB cache.
The Intel® Server Board SDS2, Intel® Server Board SAI2, and Intel® Server Chassis SC5100, also built around the Intel Pentium III processor with 512-KB cache, are optimized for general purpose computing environments. The Server Board SDS2 is targeted at small- to medium-sized workgroup environments utilizing e-mail servers, proxy/caching servers, Web servers, and database servers. The Server Board SAI2 provides small businesses with a great price/performance solution for their file/print, intranet Web server, and terminal server computing needs.
The Intel Server Board S815BM1 is available today for a 1U (1.75`` height) chassis configuration. This product provides value-conscious businesses with a solution to their Web hosting, firewall, and Domain Name Systems (DNS) requirements.
Additional server management, storage, and networking products announced today include the first IPMI 1.5 server management stack implementation via the Intel® Server Management version 3.5, as well as the Intel® RAID Controller SRCMR, Intel® RAID Controller SRCU32, and the Intel® PRO/1000 XT Server Adapter. These products are designed to improve I/O performance and data reliability in a variety of computing configurations.
With a server built on Intel building blocks, system builders can focus their investments on software and services to develop integrated solutions faster. With this unique breadth of products, including a variety of processors, boards, chassis, server management software, RAID, and network access components, solution providers and integrators can deliver competitive technology to meet their customers' enterprise demands. Glossary
Intel Server Board SCB2: This board can be used for a variety of Internet applications, including clustered database, firewall, streaming media, and e-mail servers. It utilizes up to two Intel Pentium III processors with 512-KB cache, and is optimized for 1U (1.75`` height) or 2U (3.50'' height) form factors. This server board has triple peer PCI buses, including two 64-bit/66MHz PCI buses. Designed to work with Server Chassis SR1200 or SR2200.
Intel Server Chassis SR1200: This chassis is optimized for the highest density environments, either as a Web server where a relatively small data set is maintained internally, or in database or e-mail applications with external data sources. This chassis conforms to the 1U form factor with flexible storage options from ATA to SCSI and up to three hard drives; includes tool-less assembly and service; and AC and DC power options are available to meet a variety of end-user requirements.
Intel Server Chassis SR2200: This chassis bridges general purpose and high-density applications by enabling a great deal of internal I/O and storage expansion in a rack-optimized form factor. 2U form factor for SCB2 Board with six 64-bit/66MHz slots; three full length and three low profile. Up to seven hard drives, for 504GB total internal storage capacity (with 72GB drives). AC and DC power options.
Intel Server Board SDS2: This server board is targeted at computing environments utilizing mail servers, proxy/caching servers, external facing Web servers, and workgroup database servers. It supports up to two Intel Pentium III processors with 512-KB cache, six PCI slots with support for six full-length PC cards, 6GB dual channel SDRAM with 2.1GB/sec maximum theoretical throughput, dual channel U160 SCSI, support for the Intel RAID Controller SRCMR (Modular ROMB), and integrated Intel Server Management 3.5. Designed to work with the Server Chassis SC5100.
Intel Server Board SAI2: Typical usage models for this board are file/print, intranet Web servers, and terminal servers. It supports up to two Intel Pentium III processors with 512-KB cache, six PCI slots, 4GB SDRAM, two ATA/100 channels, and local server monitoring. When combined with the Server Chassis SC5100, this server board will support up to five 1`` height SCSI or IDE drives for up to 400GB internal storage.
Intel Server Chassis SC5100: Support for up to ten hot-swap SCSI hard drives giving maximum capacity of 720GB in 5U form factor. Flexible power and form factor options, including redundant power and pedestal or rack options. Designed to work with SDS2 and SAI2 boards.
Intel Server Management, version 3.5: This management software is the first to reach the industry standard set by Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) specification version 1.5. Intel's standards-based approach frees server integrators and their customers from proprietary server management solutions. Included with every Server Board SCB2 and SDS2.
Intel RAID Controller SRCMR: A high performance hardware-based RAID controller for environments that want the protection and performance of true hardware RAID. This product features Intel's new RAID software architecture, providing a simple, full functioned BIOS tool, stability, and performance. This RAID controller works in combination with the onboard SCSI device on the Server Board SCB2 or SDS2 to deliver dual channel hardware SCSI RAID at a low price point.
Intel RAID Controller SRCU32: High performance dual channel Ultra160 SCSI RAID controller. Up to 256MB RAM for high performance and throughput; standard battery backup unit; new software stack for stable, fast, easy-to-configure storage operation.
Intel PRO/1000 XT Server Adapter: First Gigabit Ethernet adapter on the market to meet the Low Profile PCI specification. This adapter enables data transmissions over common copper network cables of up to one billion bits per second (one gigabit per second). Based on Intel's single-chip Gigabit Ethernet controller, this adapter features a smaller bracket to accommodate lower profile server designs.
Intel Pentium III Processor with 512-KB cache: The Intel Pentium III processor with 512-KB cache delivers performance for mid-range and value servers. This server processor is based on the new 0.13-micron technology, which allows for increased performance while requiring less power. With current speeds up to 1.26 GHz, the Intel Pentium III processor with 512-KB cache offers performance for a broad range of server applications. |
