How are you going to "sell" a long term peace with Israel unless it is first described in Arabic as a "truce", or words to that effect

You "sell" it by not pouring fuel on the very fires that prevent it.

Remember... people like Arafat hide behind their muslim faith, believing that they can lie to infidels and not put their honor at risk.

Thus, they don't have to negotiate in "good faith". All they have to do is prey upon the opponents desire to find peace at any cost and ignore his Arabic tirades about how evil Israel is and how it must be destroyed.

And you know something? You can be a major critic of Israel and recognize the incredible stupidity involved in believing someone who's telling you one thing, but turning around and telling something else to his followers.

Peace will only come with mutual understanding and tolerance. I believe their are sufficient Jews in Israel who YEARN for such a settlement to override any extremists on their side demanding no compromise. But they have to have a foundation of credibility and belief that they aren't selling out their souls for a temporary peace that will result in a direct threat to them later on by an even stronger foe.

I have yet to see the Palestinians to display a similar willingness to find a "detente" between the two peoples.

You want some Palestinian leader to say the same things in English as he does in Arabic. You'll wait forever.

A leader who's interesting in shaping public opinion, instead of just following it, can rephrase a message without negating it. For an example, look at the pronouncements of King Abdullah, who is talking to exactly the same audience -- Jordan is 80% Palestinian.
