Of course it's not essential. A PC itself is not "essential". Heck, my car isn't "essential". Video games certainly aren't "essential". With that said, 110 million people will buy these inessential PC's in the next 12 months.

It's not essential, but Links 2001 doesn't run very well on your machine. It's not essential, but speech recognition software won't run at all on your machine and the greatly improved versions that are expected next year definitely won't run on your PC. Some people like these programs that don't run on your PC. About 110 million people by most estimates.
