I am not going to upgrade to XP. I don't really want to spend the money and I don't like the "Product Activation" scheme.

Reynoso,

I'm still running Win-98 on all my machines. I'm unlikely to upgrade soon unless I buy new hardware. Too much other stuff that's working OK to take a chance on screwing around with an O/S upgrade.

"how many on this thread are thinking/planning of upgrading to this new OS?"

Why would anyone in sober mind want to do this?
And what could be possibly "new" in this "OS"?
As soon as I could get rid of "windows animation"
and other processor-hogging crap, I am perfectly
fine with w98, and so far successfully weathered
WinME, Win2000,.. etc, and hope to weather the XP,
unless all web pages I open would say that only
XP is allowed to access the site.

RE:"Just curious - with Microsoft formally launching Windows XP this week, how many on this thread are thinking/planning of upgrading to this new OS?"

I will try it. Or at least look at it. It will either be that or WIn2000...

BTW, up to 9/11 the US Government spent more going after Bill Gates/Microsoft than Osama Bin Laden...
Figure that out...
