John may have more insight, but I believe there is nothing to be read into from this "typical" announcement. It's much like a coupon pass that is done as a matter of routine to add permanent reserves--it just so happens they are doing this with TIPS today.

Hi Challo, I'm not sure about what I think about the FED buying TIPPS. They could be adding so much liquidity
that they need to buy some of these Inflation indexed bonds, so they don't draw down the outstanding supply
of other Treasury Bonds and notes to much.
