Brian, I'm sorry to hear that you'll no longer be posting here. I've appreciated your contributions and I hope you will reconsider. I have to admit that the volume of OT posts is getting to be a bit much.

Brian, how about just a trial separation from the thread? Come back when things have settled down. Who will fight the war mongers in your absence? Who will post the latest semi news?

re: This will be my last post

C'mon, now, don't leave in a snit. I promise to play nice. Or as nice as I am able. We've cohabitated this thread without too much friction (frequent heat, some smoke, no flames) all this year. The thread benefits if both our voices are here. I thought it was wrong in 1999 when bearish opinions were not welcome here, and I think it's equally wrong if bullish (or pinko pacifist) opinion isn't welcome. So, please don't take my (frequently sharp) disagreament as an attempt to kick you off the thread. Stay, please. Besides, I'm lazy, I don't want to have to do all the work you do, finding articles.

The "groupthink" is simply that this Bear Market has been going on for so damn long, it's getting hard to remember what a Bull Market is like.

Brian,

Your voice is needed on the AMAT thread and elsewhere, for
the very reasons you put forth.

Namaste!

Jim

"We need radicals; people willing to question the status quo even at the
risk of appearing offensive, unpatriotic, etc, etc. Just something to remember. "

Brian,
I agree. So why do you run away. What i have tried to do is have our threaders deal with the reality of the situation. Yesterday we discussed nuclear war and many people thought thru it. Those of us who proposed this as a Possibility only, did not make your world miserable, it was the terrorists. You should remember this and reconsider your decision. Perhaps we could all try to follow Richards advice about posting OT on OT posts. I have been negligent in doing so. But to be upset when the lives of our families and loved ones in peril, that this thread discusses political issues is really bad form. Please rethink this and keep posting. What you post needs to be said. Guys like me have to incorporate what you say into what we propose. Maybe all it will do is reduce the quantity of weaponry used, but wherever we can save lives, we should. mike
