Fallope, [edited] thanks for the post. IC Insights may not have heard of Intel's real capex spending plans for 2002. They won't be down more than 20% from 2001, maybe less, if I remember correctly.

That little error makes the rest of IC Insight's report suspect. What was their prediction for 2001 one year ago? Probably way optimistic. I don't think any of those forecasters know what's coming.

[edit] Here's the latest forcast from Intel >Reportedly, Mr. Gelsinger has said that Intel is looking to trim its 2002 capital spending budget by 10-20% from this year's surprisingly robust level of $7.5 bln.<
