Tony, AMD has fought it's way uphill to this point no matter what Intel did and I expect it to keep doing it as it does indeed make good parts and if it gets a few breakthroughs into server space and commercial desktops we could see some changes.
AMD is smaller, leaner and better able to get by on smaller margins...it has had them all it's life.
Intel on the other hand is spoiled and used to fat margins and is only now coming to the realization of this permanent state of affairs and that means fewer heads at all levels of intel.

I feel their 64 bit venture will not be able to take the entire market away from x86 systems and the legacy ability of AMDs 64 bit parts will allow it to make gains here. In fact I feel Intel will be forced to make a 64 bit x86 part, just to stay in the game.

Remember the Microchannel? Well, that was when a mighty company fell to earth. It ca happen to Intel, it is very humbling.
