You're being deliberately dense again. Who cares if they refused? The point is that the American government opposes this sole beacon of free press in the Middle East. The reason? Because it speaks truthfully about corruption in the dictatorships in Middle East.

Attempting to restrict free press is most definitely an example of suppressing democracy. They want to nip dissent in the bud, before the people rise up and demand elections. Your tirade makes a mockery of your endless laments about the lack of democracy in the Middle East.
