The liberal arts has no necessary connection to what passes for liberalism, nowadays, and conservatives in the United States are conserving an older liberal tradition, the one that upholds individual liberty rather than promoting thought control and socialism. Republicans have more women office holders nationwide than Democrats. No one is trying to hold women down. This Administration has been the first to put blacks in such non- token, important positions as Secretary of State and National Security advisor. Take your libels elsewhere......

You are very confused. You confuse "Liberal", which in the US political context, equals "socialist" with "liberal", which means " given freely". Modern American Liberals, as socialists, oppose classical liberalism, which promotes economic freedom and is embraced by most US conservatives. In the US it is the universities, once home to "free speech" movement, where Left wing "political correctness" is most at war with free speech and intellectual inquiry, "liberal" thought, so to speak. Thanks to their Leftist infestation, it is in US universities where speech is the least free in America.
