Intoto Inc. Demonstrates the First Network Processor Based Firewall and Announces iGateway npFastPath Solutions
Intoto extends its expertise in gateway security and convergence solutions to the Network Processor market to accelerate development of secure high-performance gateway equipment

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 2001-- (Network Processor Conference) Intoto Inc., a leading provider of secure gateway software solutions to equipment manufacturers and processor vendors, today introduced the first network processor based firewall solution on Intel IXP1200 network processor platform. Intoto also announced the availability of high-performance npFastPath software solutions on network processors.

The npFastPath solutions offer increased performance, and flexibility for the network processor based gateway equipment. As a part of Intoto's iGateway(TM) software platform, these solutions provide comprehensive fully integrated security and convergence functionality. Equipment manufacturers leverage these solutions to accelerate product development, improve time-to-revenue, and deliver fully validated products.

``We are very pleased to announce the npFastPath solutions integrated with our iGateway platform to the NP market,'' said Sathyan Iyengar, President and CEO of Intoto. ``We will extend our expertise in delivering award-winning security and convergence solutions to high-performance network processor market. Our modular, layered and flexible architecture will enable the equipment manufacturers to deliver the products quickly to the market.''

Intoto plans to deliver npFastPath solutions on network processors within the next quarter. These data plane software solutions include Firewall, VPN, MPLS-VPN, MPLS, AAL2, RTP, and other protocols supporting VxWorks RTOS and Linux.

Intoto demonstrates the first Firewall solution on network processors at the Network Processor Conference at Parkside Hall, San Jose, CA, Oct 23-25 (booth #411) along with the demonstration of AAL2 solution. The Firewall demonstration showcases stateful packet inspection implementation in a gigabit network environment. The NAT and stateful packet inspection engine is implemented in the data plane, in optimized micro-code. The high-performance CyberDefense Engine implemented in micro-code, provides protection against DoS and DDoS attacks.

``Security is critical for high performance gateway equipment,'' said Srinivasa Rao Addepalli, CTO and Chief Architect. ``We are delighted to bring our ICSA certified Firewall software to network processors. Our npFastPath Firewall solution is designed to perform complex and repetitive tasks within the network processor. Our architecture also allows for load sharing across multiple network processors providing the ability to significantly scale the Firewall performance.''

The npFastPath firewall solution is implemented along with Intoto's award-winning ICSA certified iGateway Firewall solution offers:

-- Stateful packet inspection firewall
-- Comprehensive CyberDefense Engine
-- Full featured NAT

Tony,

In the most broadest sense, yes.

I would consider a calculator a computer since it provides input, output and data manipulation....

However, in all fairness, calculators (to my knowledge) do not utilize the x86 structure....

re: A PC provides input, output and data-manipulation processes.

If I am not mistaken, 'human' also fulfills the requirements of this definition of PC. :-)
