Interesting question AG... business economists have a
negative outlook in the Oct survey

----- October survey of business economists reflects "the weakest economic performance and outlook" in 22 years said the president of the NABE. The survey showed that capital spending has fallen below the last recession as the percent reporting increased spending is the lowest in the 20 year history of the survey. The profit squeeze remains intense as more survey firms report falling margins than rising for a fifth consecutive quarter. Hiring plans argue that the labor market will weaken further. On the positive side inflation pressures have disappeared with wage gains showing the weakest reading on record. The terrorist attack had a very clear effect as the heavier weighting of businesses currently expecting deteriorating conditions compares with a heavier weighting of business improvement prior to the attacks.------
