Richard, Chill. We are all a bit weird. That was not a personal attack, just frustration. Maybe i am totally crazy but i dont understand your position. Jacob and I have posed hypothetical question that you folks refuse to clearly answer. I will try to put it in yes/no question form. 1. a. Anthrax is tied to bin laden and another chemical attack follows killing thousands. b. bin laden gives us an ultimatum--surrender or one city goes each day c. a second city is hit with the same results d. our military locates his cave along with the rest of his crew e. We conclude that there is no way to get to him with troops or with Conventional weapons We have a small nuke that can be delivered close enough to collapse his caves. Do we do it? 2. If you believe in deterrence do you accept that the only way to make deterrence credible is to follow thru on the threat.. a. bin laden forces detonate a small nuke in a major city What do we do? You werent clear in your last post or i am having trouble understanding your point. 3. In the cold war, if the russians nuke an american base what would we have done? Do you agree with having done it or would you have called off the retaliatory strike. Have a nice evening. I hope there are points we can agree on. Just so you know i have not advocated use of nukes, i was just trying to get a consensus on when use might be appropriate. Some said never. A few seemed ready to go earlier. I think i have the germ of a position in the questions above. mike
