Not entirely true. When was the last time a Sly Stelone(sp?) movie made money? Clearly economics doesn't drive some (most?) decisions in Hollyweird. But so what? What's that to me, or you, or flappy?

Actors get that much per picture when they are "bankable", that is, it is possible to get financing based on their participation, and when the return on investment is almost guaranteed to be extraordinary, because of the audience they can command by being on the marquee.....

To some extent you're right ... salaries of sports gladiators and entertainers a simple case of economic supply/demand. We might have seen the zenith in sports salaries. TV viewership of baseball, basketball, perhaps even football, not what it once was. Also, I read a story today where Major League Baseball is contemplating shutting down two franchises: Montreal and Miami, and moving the Pirates to the N.L. East.
