World Chip Market to See Recovery During Q4
October 25, 2001 (SEOUL) -- The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics forecast that the world semiconductor industry will recover during the fourth quarter of this year, and see slow but steady growth in 2002.



According to the statistics, the world chip market swung up to US$43.2 billion during the first quarter, and fell to US$34.7 billion during the second quarter and US$29.8 billion during the July-September period of this year. It is expected to rise by 4.3 percent on a quarterly comparison to US$31.1 billion during the fourth quarter of the year to stand at US$138.8 billion this year.

The WSTS added that consumer sentiment is expected to ease in 2002 on expectations of a recovery in the world economy, and the chip market will swing up by 2.6 percent to US$142.4 billion in 2002 and US$168.7 billion during 2003.
