The covert ops article gives me a headache. A pox on all their houses, and I do not mean smallpox. We don't belong there, sticking our fingers in that tinderbox only gets them burned, as we have seen. Our duty as the "reluctant sheriff" as it has been called, is to keep the peace, not supply weapons of individual or mass destruction. The solution can only found, painfully, by the participants. If they absolutely insist on killing themselves, we can only argue with them, not get in the middle and get shot ourselves. The limit to nat'l "friendship" with Israel as well as the M.E. counties as been reached. If anyone wishes to take military action after this police action is finished -- should join the Israeli army, for instance. I was generously invited when I was over there. I declined -- I'd rather fight for the US. Speaking of which -- I hate to say it, but Ridge is failing to move adequately. Regardless of the magnitude of the job and lack of resources, he has the bully pulpit and is unaware of how to use it. He needs to be replaced w. someone w. a bit more testosterone, or at the least bring in a sparkplug assistant with a bit more on the ball who can rally the pent-up energy of the American people. We've got upset postal workers (we know what that can lead to), domestic Mullahs fomenting or silently assenting to violent revolution , and a populace stocking up on Cipro and gas masks. No one has even set up a governemtn domestic-action webpage to summarize official information. It's drifting out of control, which means the terrorists are in charge. He needs to lean on his buddy George and get more resources, and better advisors. He's obviously not the key man here, and one is needed. Unfortunately, the truly competent Warriors in the administration are all focused on the foreign military campaign. The domestic battle is extremely important... even more so, at this point, I would argue. I doubt we are going to get our rear ends kicked over there ... but we sure can, and are here.
