Is the P4 shortage just an Intel marketing ploy?

478-pin chips are in shorter supply, Ward concedes. The best way of getting hold of some would be to make your Intel rep your best friend. ‘Invite him to your wedding,’ he urges.

The more they want them, the more they will buy?

re: from all the signs it looks like intel is loosing price war.
That's pretty laughable. AMD posts a loss $190 million last quarter, while Intel posts a profit of $106 million, and you think that Intel is losing the price war???
Denial's a b!tch, ain't it.

Would performance bar charts have worked better than Quantispeed?

Well, here is one response an Inquirer reader got to the question "Is P4 better than Athlon"

Intel owns AMD - AMD = Another Microprocessor Division. Intel sells the good processors under their own name, they just use the AMD name for the low end segment

And that was from the salesman, not from the "dumb consumer". You can't counter that kind of misdirection with a few bar charts.

Albert, Margins go down and rarely up, unless someone is caught by the short hairs(at the back of the neck, of course, what else)

From what I see there are enough people out there that know the truth about the P-4 versus the Athlon to make a growth market for AMD.
