You probably just caught me on a good day. Also, it helps when I put JLA on mental ignore. He has tried to bait me five or six times today with his taunts, tirades and trash talk (how's that for alliteration?), but the fish ain't a-biting this overcast fall day. Ha ha ha.

Back to sports: If the Montreal and Miami baseball franchises do fold, we could see similar in the NBA and NHL. The NFL is probably on sounder footing. Much of the sports dollar comes from television, and if ratings for some sports keep falling, then the effects of such will be felt.

Unfortunately, many cities (and colleges ... and high schools) measure success by whether their gladiators can best other gladiators. Such is especially important in small-market cities like Kansas City, Milwaukee and here in Cincinnati, where three-quarters of a billion dollars of taxpayer money is being spent to build new arenas for the Bungles and Reds.
