Waaaay OT:

morpheus, and those other gnutella clients, portend the implementation of more draconian methods to manage copyrights.

It's one thing getting songs from some arcane method known to a small group, but when it reaches mainstream, and can be used by 12 year olds, it no longer is a nuisance, but becomes a threat.

As much as I'm against it, I can't see any other way for this copyright issue to resolve itself other than the development of "copyproof" CDs.

Having said that, even with these CDs, there will still be people with the wherewithal to defeat the copy protection, and at that point it will be limited to a select few.

Someone eventually will make a one-click "bypass copy protection" program, and the cycle will repeat itself.

So I guess my hypothesis ends us up where we are now. Not very productive, but a prediction if history is any guide.
