...May 22 to late August and count the times we stayed for a solid week not much above the 50 DMA, ...

50 DMA ? I make that about 2 solid months last April thru early June plus a week in July and a couple of days in August, (2 solid weeks last January, and not at all in Sept 1998 or Oct/Nov/Dec 1987). Exp. MA gave about the same thing. Am I looking at the right thing, or am I missing the point?

It makes good common sense that a hold above the 50 dma would then be a major influence on the depth of a December retest ("you can't con an honest man, only a greedy one"), but I'm looking for more rigorous reasoning if possible.

Side Note: $VXN is now at the bottom of the post-WTC channel (9/25-present), FWIW. Ditto $VIX .

Zeev: Excessively bullish posts appearing now on SI are starting to signal the beginning of the end of this move.
