Thank you for answering.

Words escape me. I shall try. It gives me some solace to see that your heart has somehow survived a horror I must now face. It allows me to dream of a future. The wheel is spinning. I think of the Mahatma and his anger on the S.A. train with his first class ticket to nowhere. Somehow he overcame the anger and found the light. Or is this just another Hollywood illusion ripe to shatter? I lash out in anger, later to know shame. Sometimes there is no other way to cope. I dream of a better day. Then the sun rises a bit dimmer inciting concern. I check the mark and it has little changed. I look inward and am terrified. I just hope that the 'bottom' is finally here, yet despair reigns supreme. Oh for a new dawn! My name is Ozymandias, look upon me and despair!

IMHO, it does not help today, to bear grudges for events over 50 years ago. It is overdue for us to think of ways to move forward with a friendly relationship.

The partition was based on religious majority areas. It can not be undone. But today we do have an opportunity to transcend that boundary, in the interest of being friendly neighbors (like we used to be), and look after our people's needs rather than defense budgets that we can not really afford.

I used the words "us", "we" above to indicate the people of India + Pakistan + Bangladesh, (and nationals of other countries whose origin is from there - like me).

cheers, kumar
