That is ridiculous, I sold out early 2000 and went short, now I just collect coupons and hedge a few long and short's. There are many cycals in Us market history that have 10-20 year periods that go sideway's. After 1966 bull market was one of them, why wouldnt we be in one know. In the 1960's Mutual funds were all the rage and equities were the nifty 50. This is eirily similear, and the market didnt come out from hybernation until LTBH mentality was demolished. The same will happen again.

<. In any case, the trick is to not invest in a single stock and instead buy the index. >

Yea, right, let Standard and Poors invest for you... what a dismal bunch of clowns THEY are. The only reason that's been working is it's become institutionalized and the LTBH crowd has been doing it since the last bear.

<Historically, the long term mean points up, up and away>

Yea, right... got some statistically significant data?? NOT! Interesting that you came back right at the end of a nice run in the market... hmmm, think I'll reload on some pooots.
