What an experience that must have been! During my infantry training, my platoon was mainly comprised of Eskimos. So, we had it pretty easy. They were a priority. It was in the best interest of everyone if they passed. So basically, I had it made. Makes you appreciate "Tastes Like Chicken" doesn't it? Go Snake Eaters! To the best of my knowledge, I don't know any Eskimos. I have read enough about them, however, to have a profound respect for their culture. At their best, they can survive in the most inhospitable environment on earth. For some insight, I recommend two novels by a German author (whose name escapes me): "On Top of the World" and "Return to the Top of the World." I guarantee you will come away with a renewed disregard for political correctness. In one episode, a family becomes marooned on a floating iceberg. The father has to choose which of his family contributes the most to the group. That is, which shall be sacrificed for the survival of the whole. You will learn new meanings for the word brutal.
