Hey, I'm not sure, but I think I could have requested that the thread be made moderated, and then excluded everyone or everyone who posted something i don't like. I didn't do that. That would qualify as preventing "the opposition from speaking at all" or "silence opposing views." Nothing has really changed, but the header. It can hardly be seen as shouting down, only intended redirection. Post away under the beanie babies header, if you feel that strongly. I find the idea somewhat amusing. j

Right and that would be why a right wing extremist came over here and told me I was a traitor and ought to leave the country. UnHUH Liberals, alas, are not unique. We just aren't quite as violent. I haven't seen any liberals advocating torture, for example. We'll have to leave that to you "moderate" conservatives. Ah the irony that abounds here.

The liberal ACLU defended a Neo-Nazi group's right to march in the predominantly Jewish town of Skokie, Illinois. Because, abhorrent as the views were to the liberals in the ACLU, they knew that the First Amendment protected the right to express them. A couple of small town newspaper editors (one was from Texas, I don't recall where the other was from) were fired for expressing the view that it was cowardly of Bush not to return to Washington immediately after the attacks. I suspect the firings weren't done by liberals or to cater to liberal views. Possibly you are confusing PC-left and identity politics, as categories, with the category 'liberal.'
