Arabs took over Ancient centers of Civilization: Jerusalem,
Egypt est. and did not destroy them (unlike our ancestors, who whipped out Rome) that is were initial advantage came from.
Mongols never reached Egypt, Arabia peninsula ets. development in this places grind to a holt by itself.


Yes, the Arabs were great assimilators, but shouldn't they get a little credit for it? The great centers of their civilization were in Persia and Mesopotamia, which were devastated by the Mongols.

If by "our ancestors" you mean the Goths, et. al., they never "whipped out" Rome; they wanted to join it, not destroy it, but the knowledge of how to run such a civilization became too diluted among the Gothic kingdoms. Then Mohammed came, and closed the sea to Christian ships -- that was the real cause of the Dark Ages.
