Elmer, AMD is now only playing catchup and only for a few weeks. AMD leapfrogged Intel in early October. Intel will not ship Northwood until at least January, which means that AMD will hold the performance crown for entire quarter (13 weeks). We can speculate about the future. Intel will probably regain the performance crown in early Q1 2002, but during the same quarter, AMD is expected to release their Thoroughbred processor, so the performance crown may continue to go back and forth.
