Clinton had no power to ruin my life. He ruined the value of what I produced (mind you, Clinton is getting the blame because his henchmen, ecoterrorists, managed to convince the uninformed that forestry was the moral equivalent of environmental rape.) It was ruined because cutting trees was no longer in your job description and you had to find other management techniques? Cutting trees was never in my job description. Growing trees for the greater benefit of all was. Big difference. I repeat, Clinton had no power to ruin my life. You blame Clinton because you experienced a decline in job satisfaction during his administration? Yes. Did he require more paperwork? You wouldn't believe the amount of paperwork required by Clinton's policies. I am not going to reveal specifics, but I can show you fifteen years of paperwork that went into a plan for managing a large area for a mere ten years. This particular area had eight million acres of commercially viable timber, six million of which was productive enough to be managed for that purpose, and about half of which was suitable for the purpose while still meeting all environmental concerns. The ten year plan (that took fifteen years) reduced that amount to something between one and two million acres for forest management and the rest for other benefits. This plan was submitted to Clinton's administration. They didn't like it and in six months came up with a brand new plan that permitted forest management on only 685,000 acres. During this time Clinton's administration managed to drive the area's largest non-governmental employers, forest products firms, out of business. They of course have to share some of the blame through their own behavior and management choices, but the result for the people who lost their jobs was the same. less time in the woods? I take the blame for this my self through my job choices. It was a mistake. I now work exclusively on a keyboard, which has its own set of rewards. what kind of political event left you with no moral purpose to look after the trees? Early on, I made the judgment that forestry was a morally right and productive thing to do with my life. I spent 30 years doing it before Clinton reared his ugly head. Under his administration, forestry, as I've already explained, lost a lot of ground. The trees I caused to take root are still out there growing, but in order to satisfy YOUR need to build a house and read the newspaper we will now be forced to get the raw materials from Siberia and other places where forestry is no more than an impractical idea. Has it got through your thick skull yet?
