Any generic Grandmother (Bubbe) will do.

The stories are self-serving and the stories are spun to make positive out of evil.

Let me give but one example:

Queen Esther and Delilah

As you probably know Esther came to the rescue of her fellow Jews by plotting the murder of Haman, a Persian minister to the King, who was going to murder the Jews of Persia. This act was considered a mitzvah (a good deed), by Jews around the world and Esther is worshipped for her work. (Purim). Nevermind that a holiday was already in place at the time of what is now called Purim.

Delilah is another matter. Delilah, a Philistine, was the object of Samson, a child of Israel, affections. Samson, a brute, was constantly at war with the Philistines and was out to destroy what was left of them after the Israelites took most of their land. Delilah discovered the secret to Samson's strength and made that fact known to her fellow Philistines, and Samson was captured tortured, his eyes gouged out, and his hair cut (that was the source his strength).

In Esther's case, she was a murderer and is considered a hero.

In Delilah case, although not a murderer, she is demonized as a harlot and evil woman.

This is what I mean about sanitization of Biblical stories.
