Tench Re..I pay as much attention to that article as I pay to so-called "experts on terrorism." They may have good points here and there, but more likely than not they're missing the mark.<<<<<<<<<<

You could very well be right. The trouble is that there have been a lot of articles the past two yrs. that have been critical of Intel products. Chipsets for Rambus, the 910 I believe,Rambus itself, 1 ghz P3, 1.13 P3, Itanium, Merced, etc. The P4 has had as many bad reviews as good, along with the Mckinley. While AMD has had delays, all of its reviews have been mostly positive; starting with the Athlon. The Athlon has changed perceptions of AMD. I am not so sure that P4, with its unbalanced chip, and McKinley can overcome the perception Intel is getting. Intel is the name brand, and needs to keep its high quality branding. Will Intel keep its high quality image selling millions of P4's with the i845 chipset. Intel may, but it is taking a huge risk that P4 will be equated with a dog, and its chips are inferior. If Intel loses it's branding to AMD, next yr we could be postulating on how low Intel can go.
