Bill - options work has been the only thing that kept me afloat this year. I watch pretty closely and if I have to, roll the position to avoid being called... sometimes works against me but have done well in this sour market.

Oldtrader,

How did you lose the shares? Were they assigned? Also, if you sold CC just a week ago, why buy them back so soon? Lots can happen between now and even the November expiration.
During the Bid Laden month I had to sell 30 contracts for November 20 strike expiration. Recently rolled them out to Jan 03 30 for a net gain of .70 per contract. Didn't want to lose the shares; gained 10 points in strike. Of course, I would not have usually sold a strike @ 20, but had to generate $ for a margin call. As for the Jan 03 30's...I'll deal with them next year. Besides this mishap, as Rudedog stated, CC has been the only reason I'm ahead in the market today (well, naked puts also) Last November, Dell was trading around right where it is today.

Cheers,
Kaka
