Sorry for butting in, but it seems to me that the Saudis need us as much (or even more than we need them). We're petrol "junkies" and they supply us the fix.

The only reason the ruling tribe has accumulated so much wealth is that they have such a hungry customer as ourselves.

It's a cops and robbers type deal. Without the crooks, there's no cops.

Not really. If push comes to shove we have other sources. Canadian tar sands could supply us for 50 years. There is more oil available now than there was 50 years ago. All we have to do is get it. Coal and nuclear for our power plants is available. I remember when I was in high school in the 40's the word was that we would run out of oil in 20 years. What a crock.
