Thanks, that does help with visualization, and it goes along with what I gathered from the controllers. The path should have been northwest/north of the Pentagon, roughly along Interstate 66, heading due East towards the White House, not southeast along Interstate 395 towards the Pentagon. That is why they got so upset. Then, as I say, in that area, from a height, I can see how it would be hard to discern the White House. One could easily get the Corcoran Gallery or the Organization of American States building. The Pentagon, on the other hand, is an obvious target. Finally, an almost completed circle, with a downward spiral, could happen from a height, rapidly, and end in the crash site, especially if they went into the turn near the White House, or overshooting it a little..........
