Sorry Paul i do not follow TAM. i did follow wolverine tubing for a while but that was a few yrs back. And I know Shaw Group was a big winner in this niche. They've now expanded their business lines.

But others here may well follow the piping co's more closely.

I have been holding TAM for a while, also Maverick (MVK) and Ipsco (IPS).

I am not terribly confident that these are the best places for my money, but with the steady depletion of natural gas wells, and the eventual possibility of a gas piepline from the far north, they seemed worth a bet. Of course, by the time such very large projects begin, there may well be Chinese products available that will undercut these companies.

BTW, I believe it was you who advised me about the Principal Company demutualization. Fortunately for the company the stock market had something of a recovery, so they were able to get the IPO off at a decent price, though it only rose a little afterwards. I don't know when I will get my certificate for the stock. I think I will give it to my unemployed daughter because it's 100% long term capital gains and she can sell it and pay almost no taxes at all on it. (symbol is PFG, I think).
