Imagine how good the comparables will be when MSFT announces their earnings next year. I'm sure they'll compare them to the last couple of quarters GAAP results and we'll be seeing headlines like:

Microsoft (MSFT) reports 120% EPS growth for Q1 2002 vs. Q1 2001

They'll report total net earnings of more than $3 billion and 120% growth. What PE do you give that? <g>

Of course these aren't the real growth rates because they don't account for the fact that the latest quarter's results were cut in half by investment losses, but that won't make it any more enjoyable for the MSFT bashers.

IMO,
Dave

It's going to be enjoyable watching MSFT's earnings run skyward

You'd better hope that happens. If it doesn't (it certainly hasn't in the past two quarters) despite Microsoft's two strong monopolies and their aggressive leverage of those monopolies to kill competitors and dramatically raise prices amidst a global recession, then you might want to consider dumping those high-priced MSFT shares.
