I am trying to find something traditional (on the COMPX chart).

Only two things I have found that called the bottom last month accurately are the weekly bar chart using Tom DeMark's reversal point calculations. That same method predicts the top of this current move at 2141. Invalidation would occur if the index went below about 1660 instead of moving higher.

And also the 12/26 MACD with a 9 period signal line on the daily chart. It called the highs on the COMP in Nov of 00, Feb of 01, and the bottoms in Jan 01, April 01, and last month. No signal for a top to this current move yet.

One thing I can see: if the COMP holds anywhere above 1700 for the rest of the year, the long-term chart will look much much better than it did in August.
