Fact: Teachers' unions are not responsible for what some perceive to be a slide in American education. If what you say is true, then provide evidence of such instead of speaking in vague generalities.

Fact: Teachers (those that survive the first few years) today are better educated, more knowledgeable, more aware of good teaching methods, etc. than at any time in this country's history.

Fact: Bad teachers are weeded out every year in every school district in America, teachers' union or no teachers' union.

So why can't Johnny read? Maybe he's watching too much TV instead of reading books. Maybe his parents are more concerned that he score touchdowns on Friday night instead of acing his history exam. Maybe his parents never valued education, so why should Johnny? Maybe Johnny learned at age 15 that he can bring in $700 a week (tax free) selling dope on the street to suburbanites driving Audis, so why the hell should he go to school?

Yeah. That's right. Get rid of teachers' unions and everything will change for the better overnight.

Bullcrap.
