BirdDog,

Re: . It couldn't have had anything to do with fighting communism and helping the South establish a Democracy in Vietnam...nope...couldn't be that...

You are either delusional or an apologist for the official lie about why we were in Viet Nam. We were there for the resources, we were there to exploit it. We felt that we could take over when the French didn't have the resources to continue their colonial reign. We didn't engage in a land invasion of North Viet Nam for the simple reason that the U.S. government wasn't stupid enough to foment a second Korean War, with millions of Asian soldiers defending their own native Asian soil against an expeditionary invasion force of foreign imperialists.

What in the world are you talking about.... defending democracy? You really do need to learn a bit about the purposes to which our military apparatus are put. Defending democracy doesn't even rank in the top ten.

Salaams, Ray

Hi BirdDog; Re: "Oh yes...all those new food supplies we're dumping there are trying to starve the people of Afghanistan."

As far as the food drops go, I understand that while the media is reporting that they are being dropped on "Afghanistan", the truth is that they're being only dropped on places under Northern Alliance control.

Hunger is and has always been a legitimate tool of warfare, one that's far kinder than a lot of others. Heck, you regularly read about people who deliberately starve themselves to death to make a point. Very rare, on the other hand, are people who petition the government to be allowed to take their own life by spending weeks in pain after being badly burned.
