Of course it would be a difficult, and probably inappropriate, conversation for a mother to have with her son in real life. I was using the discussion format to indicate what I think the germane questions would be if one could ask them, and to indicate what my reaction would be to the letters. It is what I would want to know in order to know how I should feel about the 'news.'
