Dan, Good question, If anyone here has any connections with distributors and can find how the athlon sales are that would give us a clue. I think AMD is basically backing off the price war. Maybe they are still selling out. If we knew that it would be an awesome profit advantage to buy or sell the stock going to q4 earnings.

Dan 3:

"But there may be more to it than that."

INTC has thrown its everything at P4 promotion over the past 6 months in effort to gain some P4 momentum...At some point, P4 will have to prove it can stand up to the competition and perhaps, after 6 months of heavy subsidiy that time is now...Athy has 2 years of track record behind it (i.e a foundation upon which to base its claims) to support its XP line which, in any rational market, would dictate an Athlon XP premium over the P4, an unproven product...Perhaps what we're now witnessing is the initial stage of the combination of factors: increasing market acceptance of ATHY XP owing to its enviable 2 year track record and an end of the promotional 6 month honeymoon period for the P4...Why would the consumer buy a P4 with its fair performance and high price when it can buy an Athy XP with its high performance and fair price?
