'Our friend' needs to work on his diplomatic skills

That assumes the intended audience of his comment was Americans. He may have gotten exactly what he wanted out of the exchange.

<what Giuliani objected to was the Prince's statement that we should reconsider our Mideast policy in the wake of these attacks, thus inferring that our policies were the cause of the attacks, and that we should respond by making policy changes.>

Well, coming from someone of authority in his own nation, IMO this is valuable information. Rudy can object all he wants, me I would have kept the $10 million and weighed what the guy had to say.

<'Our friend' needs to work on his diplomatic skills.>

I disagree.... you can call what he said a 'gaff' if you want, or whatever... but I think the guy was sincere... THAT is all you can ask.

I think the rest of your post is off base, for one thing it was my impression that the press conference was later in the day or that evening, after Rudy took the check at a pre-arranged thinggy. This wasn't payment to get on TV, he could do that if he wanted.

Besides... this is all relatively unimportant stuff, Rudy should be all over Shrubs if he has a problem with our friendship with these people.
