The Large and Commercials are rarely on the same side. All that one can say is that the data shows that there is a negative correlation with the Large position. They are getting short now having been net long the entire decline of the last 18 months!

The Commercial short position has come down a lot, from an extreme of -133,000 virtual S&P contracts in the first week of March/00 to the current level of -54,554, the same level as they were at the end of April when they started to then get shorter fading the March-May rally.
