My thoughts on making the security agents federal employees is so that they can obtain good benefits and pay. We all know that gov't jobs are some with the best benefits and payscales. The Homeland Office of Defense can establish mandatory qualifications and implement training. I would not be adverse to the use of gov't money to install additional screening equipment for all baggage. THe lives of all our families and friends is being risked by this weak link in airport security that places profit before safety.

Yes, I agree that Israel is an excellent model of airport safety with a proven track record. They are doing many things correctly as they do not have any problem with hijackings and bombings of their planes.

Last week I flew on six different flights around the country and everyone I talked to on my flights was ready to become a vigilante if anyone stepped out of line. FLying will never be the same and probably it shouldn't be cause we were only as good as our weakest link. The lives of millions of people were directly dependent on minimum wage employees. I won't fly again until this problem is sorted out and fixed.

Well considering that No official link has been made between the hijackings and a failure on the part of baggage and passenger screeners, I don't see what the problem is.

Sept 11 did not occur because of a failure of existing screening rules. Sept 11 occurred because there was an easy way to get into the cockpit. Box cutters or butter knives served with meal could have been used.

For the hi-jack control problem.
Lock the cockpit door and give the Pilots the option to have guns when qualified. 99.9999999999999999999999999999999% security.

Have armed marshals and unarmed Pilots, somewhat less security.

Blow up the plane in flight is a different problem and is a baggage xray and sniff security issue.
