Brian, you express your opinion of responsibility and you are free to hold that opinion. I consider your opinion false and morally and logically bankrupt.

America engages an enemy that chooses not to isolate itself from non combatants. The fight is taken to an enemy where it chooses to be. If the Taliban choose not stop their declared war on America then they are responsible for the consequences of the conditions they chose to place upon the citizens they should be protecting.

No one has starved millions of people. You may *believe* it's going to happen. But that's simply an assumption.

We will do what we can to ensure they don't starve. President Bush has already taken the first steps by bring it to our attention.

The future is not written in stone. We can shape it, change it, and effect it for the good or bad.

<<America is certainly responsible for the fate of those caught in the crossfire so to speak. >>

Like the US started the war? You can't remember back to 9/11? The rubble is still burning.

Our government can claim the deaths are caused by the Taliban should they starve this winter, but barring our military presence in Afghanistan, most of these people would probably not starve to death; so in fact WE are indeed responsible for the people in Afghanistan.

where did you dream up this crap? The Taliban government, civil war, and continuing drought caused most of this ...not America..
You suggest we back off and go ahead and let the Taliban be in charge of getting food to the people?? Hadn't happened so far, what makes you think it will now...what makes you think it is out fault?

Have you held ObL RESPONSIBLE for the hungry Afghan people? After all, he is a multi-billionaire, he is running the government, and is ultimately responsible for the Afghan people. Instead of spending money on terrorists, he could easily have spent it on his own people.... But instead, he is truly an evil man.

You ruin a valid concept A government needs to be held in check by critical thinking. by your ignorant assertions. We're less than two months into this war and already you have heard "your government" talking about feeding the innocent people of Afghanistan. That can't be done until the evil ones are out of the way. Surely this can't escape your critical eye! You sound like one of the people from my generation that blew pot while singing cumbaya and avoiding their own responsibilities in the matter.

The herd mentality thinking(War) is prevalent now. Question your government and their motives, and then question them again. Too little of this is currently occurring.
