<<But admitting our weakness is a first step to change; too few people are willing to do so.>>

Jeeze, another 12 step program.

you say "But, we reap what we sow" I also disagree with that assessment. All thru history there is case after case of folks creating someone to blame to control ignorant people. Did the Jews reap what they sowed in Europe during WW II? There is evil and those who are evil that use hate.
When the KKK lynched blacks was that because the blacks were reaping what they sowed? When a gay is beaten to death is that because he is reaping what he sowed?

I don't believe it is the imperial duty of the US to go and install the US style government every where. When there was a time the US was in mortal danger of total destruction by a powerful enemy that wished our destruction, doing whatever seemed best to prevent our destruction was wise.

But it seems that oil monied folks have created some real sick folks with the money to hatch a new threat against America. This threat may only be removed by fixing the governments in those places where this threat exists and is cultivated. Every dollar that goes to the Middle East has some part finding it's way to sick folks. So I'd say every way that we can reduce the number of dollars going to the Middle East should be considered.

No matter what we do and how many die, 1, 100, 1000. The only thing the ignorant will hear is what they are told. Today every American life has infinite value over the lives of those in countries that wage war against us. When the enemy is defeated then America has a different set of choices to make. Now is the time for very cautious discussion of choices. We don't know what is to come. And although we Americans understand listen to and respect others opinions, the world sees America through whatever filter those in charge want.

In the past there had never been a Sept 11 and there never was a leader like PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH. Will we repeat the past? I think not as President GEORGE W. BUSH, in charge, on the ball and doing what's need to be done with compassion.

You peaceniks never cease to amaze.

Take a peacenik under your wing.
Ask him about his beliefs on non-violence.
Put your arm on his shoulder and remind him to stand fast in them.
Sing cumbaya with him. Gain his confidence --- then...

...Punch him in the face.
When he gets up, remind him of his beliefs and punch him in the face.
Beat the crap out of him.
Ask him if he still believes.
Give him a hand up. When he staggers to his feet,
Slap his wife silly right in front of him.
Ask him if he still believes.
Kill his dog.
Ask him if he still believes.
Then stick him in the belly with a six inch knife. Twist it around a bit.
Ask him if he still believes.
After a while, turn around and walk away.
You don't have to ask any more.
His moral dilemma has gone to dust.

Surely you can see the absurdity of your assertion!

There is never an appropriate excuse for violence.
