First case of anthrax linked to suspicious mail confirmed in Pakistan

KARACHI: A local employee at a foreign bank in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi has contracted anthrax, the doctor treating him said early Saturday.

The man was admitted to the private Aga Khan hospital this week after coming in contact with a suspicious letter at the bank, the doctor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

The doctor said the patient's condition was not life-threatening.
