OFF TOPIC- The CDRW appears to be either/or but I haven't opened it yet. If you get the XP, take the advice of the PC World magazine and set up for a dual boot system, at least at first. There is a bunch of stuff that it would be easier to work with if I had both. For example, the Viruscan they gave me won't install because it wants to uninstall my old version first and won't do it because it's not XP. My Microsoft Outlook, and hence, my email, died and won't reinstall (probably bringing on that $329 Microsoft Office upgrade I talked about earlier). My HP All in One Printer/Fax/Copier/Scanner has now been rendered useless (I wasn't surprised by that and somewhat expected it). I am sure the fax functions work as they were independent but the printer function is 86'd. I lost some of my keyboard functions, most notably my numeric keypad and volume control. On going to HP's website after the fact, it tells me to HP recommends not updating to XP on it's Pavillion line partly because they WILL NOT ever make the new drivers. All in all, I like XP...what I can get to work of it but the guy that said just buy Pentium 4, 1 GHz, new XP ready system and stimulate the economy had some very valid points. This deal here will stimulate the economy just as well, however, as I now need Norton System Works for XP to clean up the old ME stuff I had so the new XP Virus programs, etc. will install ($69), a new XP capable keyboard ($50-100), a new printer and fax (hell, they gave me a scanner) or all in one if I ever want to see a copy again ($250 and up), the Microsoft Office upgrade ($329) plus the $300 before rebate I dropped yesterday. If you're like me and are never satisfied with what works, get out and get yourself an XP upgrade, a case of beers, a blood pressure monitor, another case of beer, and enjoy. ")
