Stopped by my local radio shack and asked about "1x" phones. The guy said he had a 3g phone. He brought it out from out back and it was a Sanyo 4700 for Sprint with a "3g by Qualcomm" sticker on the back. He said it was selling at the same price as the 4500 which was $130 for the next two days. Then it would go back to $150. I asked about Kyocera and Samsung, he said his attempts at calling those companies had not resulted in 1x phones for his shop. He said it could be that the sales rep wasn't knowledgeable though.
He also said he thought Verizon was way behing Sprint in getting ready for 3G.
P.S. Sending this from the airport on my KYO 3035 attached modem/ phone at 14.4k.
