Just as terrorists, American or foreign, cunningly used our own planes and mailboxes against us, so they used our own morality against us. We were stumbling over scruples against a foe with no scruples.

Interesting but what more could we expect from our liberal friends at the NYT ...

I do agree with the above statement; further, I believe it's time that America stopped trying to wage a moral war against an immoral enemy.

Civilian casualties ?

One deterrent of war is that most leaders of nations do not want to put their civilians in position of danger. It is what makes most leaders refrain from war. We have not chosen to place innocents in Afghanistan in danger, their "leadership" has. So, let their blood be on the Taleban hands. We should not however, let the outcome hinge on anything less than destroying this evil wherever it hides !

I noticed Ike posting earlier about thousands of Muslims making their way from Pakistan to Afghanistan to join the jihad .... a column of hundreds of vehicles. Once they clear the border and are safely into Afghanistan away from refugee camps, I would suggest we clear the earth of their little road show.

If they hunger for death so desperately, we should grant them their wishes. I hope we rain hell on their journey later today.

It is time .... this is not an exercise in morality despite our moral intentions or the blabbering of American press.

<< After six weeks of a war at home and a war in Asia, we now understand what we do not understand. .... Now he is competing against combatants with Genghis of Khan rules, who hide among women and children in mosques and school dormitories, and who don't need an executive order to betray and murder. ...."Yes, it may be a quagmire," President Musharraf of Pakistan said to Peter Jennings. >>

Those are ominously poignant words. I hope it is wrong assessment of the predicament we are in. Otherwise, ???????

Nations are sometime faced with will to remove evil, Churchill did that exactly and single handedly created the coalition that destroyed the evil of Hitler, if will is weakened so would the resolve, the only way to teach them is to turn this quandary into some solid results is not to waver, when it is the darkest the morning is about to break.

VILIFY

Maureen Dowd is an elitist snob with the tongue of a snake who perpetually whines. We all expect her to rant like an impudent child with goals that divide rather than unite. She doesn't disappoint.

Maureen needs to back up her claims that the Taliban have a "psychological edge". She also needs to back up her claims that the military is bogged down in questions of "nation-building. Where are we bogged down, Maureen?

Donald Rumsfeld has made it fairly clear that we won't stop for Ramadan, although he hasn't come right out and said so. (Maureen certainly should be able to perceive that much, but proves that even national reporters can be blinded by animosity.) He did point out the the NA and the Taliban have been at it for 5 years and have never once stopped fighting during the holy month of Ramadan.

We are not "stumbling over scruples." The overwhelming majority of Americans are not divided over this horrible conflict, we are very united in our resolve. We understand the unlawful act perpetrated against our people, and the total disregard of our fundamental human rights. The 7 story deep hole in NYC full of rearranged human molecules are our reminder. What are her motives for making such claims?

She seems to relish the idea that "we can't catch up to the terrorists". If anyone seems "feckless" it is Maureen, I can smell her glee and it stinks to high heaven.

She even mocks a great Pakistani patriot, Commander Haq, while at the same time making light of the untrue statement that "Pentagon pals failed to protect him". It seems Commander Haq went into Afghanistan without support of the coalition and when he found himself in trouble, asked for and received as much help as was possible.

Maureen continues to rail against our Government by showing her utter lack of respect for the ingenuity and creativity of the American people and her disrespectful designation of us as Tom, Dick and Goofball.

Maureen is a glib, unimportant wimp that should seriously consider retiring to her secure little la la world at The Hamptons of Cape Cod.

I have something I would like to add to the "suggestion box" Maureen. Shut up!
