Well, as to a quagmire, if the Soviets and British feel emboldened enough to tackle Afghanistan after past defeats, does Dowd think both countries are off their rockers?

The fact is, even the ghosts need supplies. They can stockpile caves only so long without replenishment. Which is why most are likely not in those caves.

Where does Bin Laden prove most useful? Fund-raising. Where does the Taliban think it can find the most replenishment and safety? In the refugee camps near the borders.

Which means the only way to defeat that plan is to let the refugees starve.... which will unravel the coalition.
